Scarlet Thread is seeking talented, creative, driven and faith filled musicians. We need people who are talented at their craft, who are willing to go the distance and strive for this to be a career and not just the clubs on the weekends. Also, we seek those who have faith in Christ.
Note: We are not slapping a Christian tag on us but we are Christians and our goal is to use music to reach people in the mainstream.
Our influences stem from Chevelle, Tool, Breaking Benjamin, A Perfect Circle, We As Human, Red and even Evanescence. Sound like fun?
Beyond skill, drive and faith a few other things we're looking for are:
Theory - It's important that you are able to understand how the notes and scales work with your instrument and can work it well. Knowing notes is very important. Tab is nice but we need at least basic theory knowledge.
Creativity - We want people who like to step outside of the box when it comes to songwriting. Licks, rhythms and structure can all be twisted in unusual ways... Let's write unique music.
Age - We would like to find people in their 20's and 30's.
Equipment & Transportation - You don't have to be a gearhead but owning the necessary equipment is a must. A car to get to practice is good too!
Stage Presence - This may sound like a ridiculous request but we need people who can light up a stage. Energy and the ability to connect with the crowd seems to be lost. We don't want it to affect the quality of the music but we can't have statues up there either. We're not at the point for live shows but when the time comes, bring it!
Rhythm Guitarist - Riffs, riffs and riffs. We're looking for unique and ear-scratching riffs that will grab the listeners attention on the first go around. We want to create music where it's not always power chords and driving rhythms. We want to explore what music has to offer and that starts with the riffs. POD, Korn, Breaking Benjamin, APC, etc... These guitarists can thrown down heavy riffs but bring a more elegant and expressive feel to the music. Can you?
Lead Guitarist - Leads, hooks, tones, accents are the game. You don't need to be a shredder but there is call for solos and such. Being able to provide the right feel and expression that compliments the second guitar and bass is a MUST. Being able to jump in on rhythm will also be needed. We also have piano in one of our songs and probably will call for more in the future. It's simple but we need the lead to be able to flip the guitar over to a keys every once in a while. Piano experience is a plus.
Vocalist/Frontman - I put these together because we need a strong male rock vocalist that can bring range, depth and some screams/growls while owning that room and everyone in it. You don't need to be an expert at writing lyrics but it is a MUST that you can create a melody and really keep in key and stay on pitch. Range is a big plus too as we need you to hit those big notes and go low but also feel out when to keep it soft. We are not a screamo band but there is call for some big screams.
Here's where we tell you what you want to know... I'm a drummer with just under 20 years experience under my belt. I'm working with a jack of all trades, who does everything from guitar, bass, drums, piano to producing, on writing music. We were working with another guitar player but he backed away just recently. The "Jack" just doesn't have the time to be fully involved with the band but will help where he can. We have written and recorded 5 songs (one is below) and we're going for more. I also have a few contacts who are a part of full time career bands who can offer help when the time arises. This is a "different" situation I know but if you have any interest I will answer any questions you have!
Here's one of our tunes (Use headphones or decent speakers as the mix is not done. Also, my vocals are on it for reference, I cannot sing at all by the way but it gives you an idea of what it might sound like completed):
